You Are Not a Self-Help Project

With so much “personal development” information floating around out there literally at our fingertips these days, a paradoxical thing can start to happen.

Beyond a certain tipping/saturation point, the information, tools and practices intended to increase our well-being can have the opposite effect.

When we start to feel overloaded with all the things we think we “should” do to “keep growing”, these (well-intended) things can begin to:

Overwhelm rather than simplify.

Trigger shame rather than ameliorate it.

Clutter rather than clear the mind.

Pressure rather than reassure our parts.

Lead to an even heavier sense that we're never doing enough.

So I wanted to chime in with the reminder that…

You are not a self-help project.

You're a perfectly whole, richly layered, deeply nuanced human being.

This life isn't just about developing ourselves.

It's about uncovering our truest, most natural Self and letting that essential light and life force radiate authentically (and, over time, more and more effortlessly) out from that center.

Our most profound work is about acknowledging, accepting and integrating all parts of ourselves.

The final frontier and deepest depths of our ”personal development” work is whole-being integration.

Allowing space for everything to move through you.

Excluding nothing from your internal experience.

Welcoming all parts of yourself with open arms.

Remembering, and beginning to live from the Truth, that you are 100% whole and lovable exactly as you are and that you have always belonged simply by existing (no proving or earning of worth required).

Lots of Love,

Melissa
